Migraine Relief Using EFT

Being a migraine sufferer for so many years, I was truly desperate until one day, I spoke to a friend who is pain theraphist and he suggested that I should try EFT which means Emotional Freedom Technique. It’s like giving yourself acupuncture but without needles, it’s the technique of finding and tapping your pressure points. I wasn’t sure what to think so I watched the video on you tube, link is :

and after watching the video and reading the comments I was actually impressed so onward I went to research EFT for headaches and migraines on the internet to see what I could find for myself.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is just that, its emotional freedom. It’s positive, uplifting thinking and its self healing. Think about it, when you have a headache or migraine it is painful for sure but have you ever thought about how emotional it is also? It is a negative feeling and negative energy is bad for all of us. Let’s take a quick look at some EFT beliefs:

*Migraine and headaches are disruption of subtle energies circulating throughout your body.

*Migraines and headaches can also be triggered from emotional unresolved issues.

*EFT is designed to realign the body’s positive energy flow and address the cause of the disruption.

*When done correctly EFT will actually teach a person how to identify the disruption, correct the energy flow and to basically heal itself.

According to people who have studied this technique and many who have tried it, the pain relief will vanish for most people in a matter of seconds and for other people it greatly reduced the pain but did not feel complete relief. There have even been reports that some long time migraine sufferers using EFT have never had their migraines return! So, now let’s take a look at how and where to apply this tapping technique.

The EFT Technique in its basic form: There is an affirmation which should be said as you tap each pressure point. This should be said out loud as you tap each area:

“Even though I have this migraine, I deeply and completely accept myself.” Repeat this three times.

The Set up:

Rate your pain. On a scale from 0 to 10...how bad is it?

You will use two fingers together, tapping lightly, on an average of seven taps per point and don’t forget to say the affirmation at each point also.

Step one:

With the finger pads of your index and middle finger (dominant hand) begin tapping the fleshy part under the thumb of your other hand. Then you will continue tapping the following areas while saying you affirmation:

*Inside end of your eyebrow

*Outside corner of your eye, right on that bone

*Under the center of the eye*Between the nose and the upper lip

*Just below the collar bone

*Crown of the head

*Under the arm.

After you are done rate your pain again and see where you are. You can do this as many times as needed until the pain is reduced or gone completely.

EFT is great for people who have tried everything else and still deal with migraines regularly, also great for those who would like a natural approach to pain relief. I am definitely going to try this technique when I experience my next migraine. EFT is also for more than just headaches, it’s being used to deal with anger issues, addictions, phobias, and anxieties. There are no side effects so it’s safe to try. Please remember this is not meant to be a cure all, or to replace your doctor, but give a try and see what the Emotional Freedom Technique can do for you.

The Learner Driver

Last weekend, my son decided to take my hubby and I for a drive to Brisbane. He had to build some hours up in his log book before he could go for his driving test. He still has a while yet to go before he gets connected with the driving school. I’m really proud of him as he does look confidence behind the wheel of the car. I really praised my hubby as he is more patient in teaching him than I am. Although I can drive however, I don’t think I am as good at teaching my son to drive as his father. Most of the time, I am just happy being the backseat passenger.

Seeing my son taking control over the steering wheel does shows how fast he is going up now. Seems like it was only yesterday when he just started school and now he is driving a car! How time flies! He is indeed growing up and I am indeed getting old!!!

Australia Bushfires

Each day the evening news has been updating the Victorian Bushfires in Australia. The whole tragic event started one Saturday two weeks ago. Many people lost their homes as well as family and friends. I was quite saddened to learn that the death toll had reached 209. Even Australian wildlife was also silent victims of the deadly fires. I knew most of these towns that was affected as I did visited them in the past. I still cannot believe that they are not there anymore! Most of the fire victims are still dazed and grieving over their loss.

Bushfires are very real in Australia. When I used to live in Melbourne, a few years ago, I remembered during the fire season, the sky was really red and the sun was glowing red. It was an eerie feeling, kind of like the end of the world. The reason why the death toll is so high this time was because the fire came so swiftly without any warning during the early hour of the morning and most people were asleep in their homes. Bushfires are caused by arsonist, strong wind and hot dry weather. At this tragic time, it is so good to see the sprit of the people of Australia come together to help the fire victims by donating food, clothing, shelter and even raising funds both local and overseas to help them to get them back on their feet. The true heroes here are the fire-fighters, polices and medical staffs. They worked tireless hours trying to get everything under control.

As I view this devastating event unfolded, I am so over-whelmed at the generosity of most Australian who opened their hearts and wallets to help the unfortunate victims of the bushfires. Even the flood victims in northern part of Queensland whilst being stranded in flood water, were not even deterred from donating all they have to help their fellow neighbours who lost everything to bushfire! This is truly a love story to tell on Valentine Day!

Tai Lai Lai Nyonya Kuih

After watching the hit drama "The Little Nyonya", my sister Tai Lai Lai decided to make some nyonya kuih for us to enjoy! I praised her for her good effort in making the kuih and decided to put these kuih on the blog for everyone to enjoy!

Essential Oils

While I was out shopping this morning, I decided to drop by the Health Food shop and brought a few more essential oils for my diffuser. I chosed five essential oils that is good for calming the mind and relieving daily stress. These oils when used individually also provide a nice aroma to the living area of the house.

Since my son will be starting school next week, I've decided to use my diffuser with a mixed blend of oils such as Bergamot, Orange and Rose Geranium to help him to think more clearly, concentrate better and increase his memory during his study time. I believe these oils have a calming effect and can assist him in reaching his goals of being a better student.

Anyway, I would like to give some interesting facts on these five essential oils and its purposes.

Bergamot Essential Oil
Botanical Name: Citrus bergamia
Aromatic Description: Fresh, orange/lemon/citrusy, slightly floral.
Possible Uses: Acne, abscesses, anxiety, boils, cold sores, cystitis, depression, halitosis, itching, loss of appetite, oily skin, psoriasis, stress.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
Botanical Name: Cananga odorata

Aromatic Description: Fresh, floral, sweet, slightly fruity, fragrant yet delicate.
Possible Uses: Anxiety, depression, frigidity, hypertension, palpitations, stress.

Rose Geranium Essential Oil
Botanical Name: Pelargonium roseum
Aromatic Description: Floral. similar to Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) with a slightly detectible hint of rose.
Possible Uses: Acne, cellulites, dull skin, menopause, oily skin.

Sweet Orange Essential Oil
Botanical Name: Citrus sinensis

Aromatic Description: Citrusy, sweet, reminiscent of orange peels, but more concentrated.
Possible Uses: Colds, constipation, dull skin, flatulence, flatulence, flu, gums, mouth, slow digestion, stress.

Lemongrass Essential Oil
Botanical Name: Cymbopogon citratus

Aromatic Description: Fresh, lemony, earthy.
Possible Uses: Acne, athlete's foot, excessive perspiration, flatulence, insect repellent, muscle aches, oily skin, scabies, stress.

My Aroma Diffuser

A few weeks ago, I came down with a horrible chest infection caused by Hayfever (allergy to grass pollens). Besides, taking medication from my doctor, I also decided to use my aroma diffuser to help me on my road to recovery. I started to use essential oil when my son was very little and got this knowledge from various people such as herbalist and nursing sister. Essential oils are not uncommon. It has been used since our forefathers and even present times, herbalist and doctors alike, too agreed that it is still the best medicine ever.

Today, I've chosen three of my favourite essential oils which are Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Lavender. These oils plays a significant role in helping me to clear any viruses in my chest! Eucalyptus oil are harvest in the leaves of a special gum tree called Eucalyptus tree. This oil is also an antiseptic and can be applied to wounds and cuts. I like this oil because it is good in clearing my air passage thus, making my breathing easier. Peppermint oil is also very good for relieving symptoms of cold and flu as well as nausea. I like the smell of this particular oil. Nice and sweet! The third one is Lavender oil, which I used often because of my migraine. It is harvest from the leaves as well as the flower. I do have a big bush outside my house which I occasionally rubbed my hands over it whenever I go for a walk. Lavender oil is really good for calming headache and a terrific relief for rheumatic, arthritic and muscular aches. It is also another form of antiseptic as well. It has a sooting effect on skin inflamation and minor burn such as sunburn.

So, whenever I use my diffuser, I like to mix these three oils together as they really makes me feel better and also make my place smell lovely. Hmmm..... I like that!

The Chili Bushes

When I was babysitting my sister's place, I was admiring her chili bushes and also the flowers in her garden and decided to show everyone how pretty her flowers were and also how healthy her chili bushes are growing. Looks like her hubby is definately a green thumb and a good gardener!

These pictures shows Santa's helpers. They are so beautifully display at a big department store called "Myers". Each christmas, it is a tradition for the Myers store to display their creative toys for the local to see. I really enjoy watching these toys and am happy to show everyone in my blog.

During the holiday season, my family decided to visit the heart of Brisbane. Although the weather was not so good, we did have a lovely time. These pictures were taken in the main mall of the city. There were heaps of shops to browse. We really enjoyed ourselves that day.

My Feathered Friends

This morning I was doing my laundry as usual. My feathered friends decided to call around. This particular one below is very tame and he likes to tap at my laundry door and wait patiently for me to feed him with some bread. I usually pretended to ignore him and do my laundry however he would sit and wait for his meal.

He looks so cute when I decided to take a picture of him. Although he is still a young bird, he really knows how to pose for his picture.

In this picture, it looks like he must be deciding whether he should eat these bread now or maybe saving it for later!

Australian Wildlife

Showing you some of the Australian Wildlife found in my backyard.

Bandicoot, a native animal of Aust. Has a face like a mouse but is as big as a small rabbit. They are endanger spieces and only comes out at night to look for food.

Bush Turkey, Aust native bird. Have them in my backyard. Local here don't like them much because they can be a nuisance but I like them. They look pretty.

These lizard are called "Dragon". They are timid and loves sun bathing on the rocks. They look cute when they raise their heads up thinking no one can see them!

Wild rabbits. They are everywhere in the open land. I loves to watch them chasing each other. Don't like them much when they dig my garden bed for food.

Kangaroo or Wallabies (smaller version). My place have wallabies. They are everywhere. Sometimes sit and rest outside my windows. Loves to watch them in my lounge room.

Wren, native bird of Aust. Very pretty and small. My area is well known for these birds. I have a door frame with its picture.

Parrots, another native bird, Aust have lots muti-coloured wild birds. This one is just beautiful. Sits in the tree outside my window most days.

CHRISTMAS NOT CLAUSMAS

My View On Christmas

Talking to my brother, Hock was quite amusing and interesting when I was home in Penang a few weeks ago. Although we share the same belief in Christianity, I was very interested about how he found my special friend and hero (Jesus). He told me that they refer him as “Ya-shu”. I had to laugh because to me, after living overseas for so long, my hokkien has already gone rusty and sounded like “Ju-who” (meaning cuttlefish). No matter how they refer him, I am so happy to see the joy on my brother’s face.

It is not long now till Christmas. Everyone is just so busy doing their last minute Christmas shopping. Even the shops are decorated beautifully with lots of tinsels, lights and toys. Browsing through shop windows, I noticed lots of well decorated Christmas tree but found neither nativity scene nor even an angel on the tree. Children are even encouraged by parents to believe in Santa Claus, taking photos with him and accepting sweets as well. Can’t help but wondered has everything now become so commercialised. Christmas time can be a joyous event to some but also a very lonely time for the lost, the unloved and the destitute people whose families have forgotten about them. It is a time for cheering and wishing and also a time for crying and feeling incomplete and suicidal. So, my friend, how do you view your Christmas this year? If you ask people in the street today, how they described Christmas, they would say in one sentence, “Santa Claus, presents, food, drink with families and friends.” Anything, except the birth of a little boy called “Jesus”. So, what so important about this, may I ask? Let me tell you the real story of Christmas.

You see, many, many years ago, A loving father in heaven gave his little boy to be born in a dirty manger for you and me. His father knew we needed his help to connect with him, so he sends his son to prepare a plan for us. His son’s plan was to teach us wisdom, retained hope, peace and joy in the time of turbulences in our lives and also to redeem us from our sins so that we will not perish but have eternal lives with him. This loving father really wants us to belong to him and his family. Very comforting news to all who thinks no one understands or cares in this world! As Jesus, grew up, he experienced many life conflicts just like us such as rejection, abuses, mockery, insults, persecution, grief and so on. So that whenever, we pray today of our hurt and pain, he does understand our feelings. His ultimate selfless act of love, was to go to the cross and to complete his purpose for us. He had to do it because without his sinless blood, we cannot come close to his loving father as we are all full of sins. So you see, this boy cares so much for you and me that he is willing to lay down his life for us. Which God in this world ever display this kind of love for you and me, my friend?

Now that we understand the real meaning of Christmas, let us move our thoughts away from Santa Claus and believing that JESUS the reason of the season and it is CHRISTmas and not Clausmas !!!

My Forever Friend

Since I am a newcomer to this website, my sweet sister said that I can pen my thoughts and feeling in this blog to convey how I feel with life. My sister’s loving tribute to our mum on her blog, really brought tears to my eyes. I did recall back that day when our mum bid everyone farewell. All of us were holding on to her, not wanting to release her to go and yet we knew we had to after seeing how sick she was. My mother’s greatest wish was to see her children again and also she wanted all of us as siblings to be united greatly no matter where we were in parts of the world. I must say that over the years and since we are all living so far away, we are all too busy in lives. However, since my mum’s passing and through the sadness and sorrow, something beautiful did spring up from it. I, my sisters and my brother did come closer as we all are going through the same sadness.

Today is exactly a month since her passing. I still can’t believe that she has actually gone. Reality sink in when I realised I don’t have a parent anymore however, I thanks god for my Christian faith that I do have a loving father who sent his spirit to constantly watching over me. I am also glad that I have a faithful friend who promises that he will never leave me nor forsake me. One day while I was sad thinking of my mum, I asked him if he ever gone through grief and he replied “Yes, my child, I wept when my friend, Lazarus died.” And he comforted me by saying “Bless are those who mourned, for they are comforted”. His words and his promises are hope to my healing each day. If it wasn’t for him, I would be so lost and lonely, full of sadness and despair.

I truly believe that my mum did not die in vain because her wish did come true. Out of sorrow, a strong loving relationship is born binding all her children together through her spirit and love. That is how I will remember my mother from now, a woman of strength, courage and full of love for her children. I am sure mum is smiling from heaven knowing that we are all going to be fine. By the way, this special friend of mine is also my forever friend and he is called “Jesus”. One day I hope he can be your forever friend too.

Ps. Try him, he is good, does not argue and very kind to your sensitive feelings! And most of all “He loves You Unconditionally!”
